Despite all the ongoing problems in the Church of England, and especially in the House of Bishops, I am still a firm believer in an episcopal church.

The model should provide pastoral support and biblical accountability to licensed ministers – something I know Rob is passionate about, but is clearly unable to deliver to each minister in over 160 parishes.

As I start out in this role, my prayer is that the Lord will use each one of my 32 years in ordained ministry and my training and experience in biblical counselling to draw alongside ministers, listen attentively and bring wise counsel – as much to their lives as to their ministry because the former must precede and shine through the latter.

Paul urged every church member at Philippi, ‘Let your manner of life be worthy of the gospel of Christ…’ How much more is that applicable to us who have been given the responsibility and privilege of pastoring Christ’s churches?
